THE DES PICKARD PLEDGE:
I swear never to make a profit
on these songs.
I may have to take money to tour someday, and I'll need to pay musicians and
mixers and folks one of these days, and considering the market (and the music)
it'll likely never become an issue for me: but
talent shouldn't make you
richer any more than wealth should; and good political ideas should be free
and travel freely, and I had fun writing these songs even if it was also work,
and I don't want to get dependent (as if) on you folks liking my songs just in
case I have to mortally insult you later, and I'd like to be able to instead
charge folks who like my songs in the coin of increased political activism as
per our official policy of "suggested donation:
one human soul": so, as real as a promise like this can be, I swear not
to make a profit from my songs. Okay?
