MEAN

Does 9/11 really mean more to you?
'Cos it oughtta mean more to me,
Mean more than the deplorable fact
That "we were all attacked" -
That the 3,000 people didn't live in Iraq.
For it to mean much more
We'd have to care about the war
Which we don't, for all I see.
Does 9/11 really mean more to you?
'Cos it doesn't mean much to me.

Does a soldier's life really mean more to you?
'Cos it oughtta mean more to me
Than hanging ribbons on a tree in a song,
And saying "terror is wrong
because the gooks should have kept to killing troops all along"

When the support we could show 'em
would be to try to bring 'em home -
Which we won't, eternally.
Does them alive or dead really mean more to you?
'Cos it doesn't mean much to me:

I know it doesn't 'cos I'm really a slob:
I'm keeping my job,
I cover up my derriere.
We've got the soldiers giving all that they have
And I'm applying a salve
By going to demos while my taxes keep them there
And yes I told the peace officer
Outside my Senator's door
"We've got to stop that war money"
I got arrested just twice that year
I spent just one hour in custody
I got arrested just twice that year
I spent just one hour in custody
I'm trying to say I did nice last year and of course it's obscene
Putting what I did nice up against
What I Did Mean

So does this diatribe mean anything to you?
Or is it being mean more to me?
We keep racking up the innocent dead,
The way we're going to get hit
we'll dive into Code Red
and that is gonna be it.
And if you're more upset
About this closing bit
Than for Democracy
Still 9/11 doesn't mean SHIT to you and it doesn't mean much,
It doesn't mean much
It doesn't mean much to me.
